MILWAUKEE (WAUK) – The first Republican presidential primary debate is set to be held in Milwaukee on Aug. 23, the Republican National Committee said Friday.
Candidates eligible for the primary will be considered on a number of factors, including their status, polling numbers, fundraising and if they’ve signed a pledge to not participate in any non-Republican sanctioned debate for the election cycle.
If there are enough eligible candidates to qualify for the debate, a second debate would be held on Aug. 24.
Milwaukee will be the host city for the Republican National Convention from July 15-18 in 2024.
