MADISON, Wis. (WMDX) – Dane County Board Chair Patrick Miles announced today that three people have been appointed to serve vacated positions on the Dane County Board. The board will consider the three appointments at their meeting Thursday evening, and if approved will be immediately sworn in and serve until the end of the 2023-2024 term.

Earlier this year, three county supervisors announced that they would be stepping down from the board, creating the vacancies.

Steven Peters will represent District 9 on Madison’s far west side. The district was represented by Alex Joers, who also serves as a state Representative. Peters previously served on the Dane County Board from 2018 to 2022. He works as the District Administrator for the Worker’s Compensation at the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

Jay Brower will represent District 13 around downtown Madison. The district was represented by Olivia Xistris-Songpanya, a student at UW Madison. Brower is a lead organizer for SEIU Wisconsin.

Chad Kemp will represent District 32 in Verona. The district was represented by Mike Bare, who also serves as a state Representative. Kemp works as an attorney, and currently serves as the President of the Verona City Council.

Board Chair Miles said that all of those who applied were quality candidates. He says the three appointees hold views consistent with the incumbent the voters last chose.
